Hello, Tech Industry
-
Watching the election, a graphic came up on screen about the amount of money certain tech companies have given the Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain. Usually, Presidential candidates who receive large sums of money from companies tend to keep an eye out for the best interests of those companies.
Here’s what I found…
Google (NYSE: goog): $499,705 to Obama; appx. $20,000 to McCain
(click here for a cool, quick bio on the co-founder of Google)
Microsoft (NYSE: msft): $437,656 to Obama
Yahoo (NYSE: yhoo): $100,276 to Obama; $4,050 to McCain
Apple (NYSE: aapl): $98,023 Obama; $16,950 to McCain
Hewlett Packard (NYSE: hpq): $148,057 to Obama; $15,750 to McCain
According to the Center for Responsive Politics (click here):
So what does all of this mean?
Barack is probably going to support future legislation and federal funding that will help these companies grow, helping with research & development of new technologies. As America becomes more technologically advanced, the government may have a helping hand in assisting these companies to do well.
What’s in it for us?
Money.
These are all pretty solid companies. We’re researching their stocks; might be a pretty good time to buy a piece of American equity at a discount (as Warren Buffet once said).
